Auroville

This universal town was founded in 1968 with the vision where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. This interesting and complex experiment that takes place on 20 sq km of scattered settlements in the midst of forested, semi-urban, and beach areas. At the very centre of lies the 'soul of the city', the Matrimandir, a large golden sphere which symbolises the birth of a new consciousness.
