No reviews yet. Be the first!
This world’s greatest fire festival reinterprets the cattle farming traditions of Jeju through a modern sense. Its roots come from a tradition called “bangae,” which is to burn down the fields between winter and spring to renew the grass and exterminate vermin before livestock grazing. The 3-day event comprises of setting fire to the area around the Saebyeol Volcanic Cone, fireworks, performances, hands-on events, contests, a folk market, and opportunities to learn more about Jeju seasonal folk culture and agricultural customs.
