Kawarau River
This gorgeous, turbulent, turquoise blue river is known as the River Anduin in the Lord of the Rings films, where the Fellowship paddled down past the two giant statues of Argonath or "The Pillars of Kings". It is now a popular spot for bungy jumping and kayaking.
