Lake Natron

No reviews yet. Be the first!
This lake's highly caustic alkaline water is due to the volcanic runoff from the nearby Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano, which gives the lake its pink hue and also calcifies any dead birds in a mummified state. However, this lake is a rich breeding ground for Lesser Flamingos as a shelter from predators and whose legs can withstand the toxic lake water.
